BUSINESSMED BSO Management Academy - Maximizing the Effectiveness of BSOs

In the framework of EBSOMED and as part of a coherent improvement process of the project, BUSINESSMED, based on the needs of Employers’ Organisations, will organize a BSO Management Academy on Maximizing the Effectiveness of BSOs on 3-4 December 2018 in Algiers, Algeria.

The 2-day event will showcase how BSOs can be more efficient in the Mediterranean scenery. In cooperation with the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) the operation aims to give assistance to Employers Organizations to become the representative and effective voice of business contributing to the creation of favourable conditions for sustainable development.

This initiative undertakes services to BSOs aiming at contributing to better business performance. It will be the opportunity for participant BSOs to exchange with international experts from ITCILO on critical management areas, to review current practice of BSOs and draw development plans as well as to discuss with peers.

With this training, BUSINESSMED is aiming to reinforce Business Organizations' strategy and added value through a practical and strategic framework that could significantly increase the chances of success and impact on Business.

The Academy will offer dedicated capacity training for 50 BSOs’ executives and provide advanced knowledge and management tools needed for the effective design, management and governance of BSOs. This initiative is a unique opportunity to benefit from a diversified training package (theoretical and practical learning courses).

The Academy will consist of three phases:

  • Phase 1 – Participants to the Academy will be able to access relevant information and resources prior to the event. Selected material and references notably to self-learning tools will be made available via internet on a dedicated webpage of EBSOMED project and serve to ensure a common knowledge level of all participants before meeting;
  • Phase 2 – During the face-to-face workshop, emphasis will be given to the sharing of best practice and on upgrading knowledge through exposure to international expertise. The different sessions will be opportunities for participants to report on and discuss the practices of their own organizations and to learn from the expert inputs. Active participation in discussions and group work are expected from all participants. Participants will also be asked to identify gaps in heir own organization’s structures and activities and reflect on how to bridge them;
  • Phase 3 – After the Academy, the material used during the workshop will be made available online on the dedicated webpage of the EBSOMED project and a follow up with all participants will be ensured by BUSINESSMED and the expert Mrs Jeanne Schmitt.

Certifications of participation signed by the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) trainer and BUSINESSMED will be delivered to the participants after the completion of the Academy.
